Fischer's Lovebird

 

 

 

GENERAL INFORMATION

Arround 1877, the Fischer's Lovebird ( A. Fischeri) was discovered by the explorer Dr. Fischer. Their natural habitat is an inland plateau between 1200 and 1800 metres altitude, with deciduous woodland and bush, south of the Lake Victoria. There, they live in small flocks of a few birds. The mainly feed is grass and accasia seed, but also millet and maize. They als breed easely in captivity and have 4 to 6 eggs. The incubation is 21 to 23 days.

DISCRIPTION

  • 15 cm long

  • Main body colour is greem

  • The fore-head is orange

  • From the top of the head to the back this becomes more suffused with olive-green

  • A bear eye ring is found around the eyes

  • The bill is coral red

  • The feet are gray and the claws are dark-grey to black

  • The rump should be a clear violet

  • There is no sexuel dimorphism

MUTATIONS

Pastel, pieds, slaty, dark eyed clears (yellow- or white black-eyed).
